We're delighted to announce that Immediate Media, the special interest content and platform company, has appointed Lucy Bellamy as the new Editor of Gardens Illustrated.

Lucy joins Gardens Illustrated from Bauer Media where she was a member of the launch team and gardening editor at Modern Gardens. Previously she has worked as a freelance garden journalist for The Guardian, Grow Your Own, Kitchen Garden and Garden News magazines and as a commercial horticultural copywriter. Lucy studied for the RHS certificate while working as a teacher and then took a diploma in Plants and Plantsmanship at Chelsea Physic Garden.  Her first book Brilliant and Wild, about new perennial planting in smaller spaces, will be published in 2018.

Lucy says: "I'm incredibly excited to join Gardens Illustrated as editor. As the most influential and aspirational style guide to beautiful gardens, it is essential reading for passionate gardeners everywhere. It's a huge privilege to join such highly regarded magazine that is a world leader in its field."

Gardens Illustrated publisher, Marie Davies says: “We are delighted to welcome Lucy on to the Gardens Illustrated team. She brings a wealth of horticultural knowledge and a long-term passion and understanding of our audience, which will enable us to continue taking this well-respected brand from strength to strength".

Lucy will take up her new post in March 2017. To ensure a smooth and seamless transition of editorial leadership, Juliet Roberts will continue to offer support for a period of time, working with Lucy to successfully hand the baton from editor to editor.

Renowned for its breath taking photography, beautiful layouts and insights from leading experts, Gardens Illustrated offers an inspiring mix of outstanding gardens, design and plants. In addition to the monthly print magazine and website, Gardens Illustrated also hosts its own festival. The second Gardens Illustrated Festival takes place over the weekend of 25-26 March 2017 at the country house and gardens of Westonbirt School in the Cotswolds. Both Juliet and Lucy will be at the festival, so do come and say hello. For further details visit gardensfestival.com
