Using the inspirational Long Border at Great Dixter as an example, Fergus Garrett will talk you through how to plan and put into practice a long season border. You’ll look at using structural plants, the underplanting and interplanting of bulbs, the use of self-sowers, including pockets of bedding, masking with climbers and overall good maintenance to ensure success.
Held in the magnificent timber-framed Great Hall, the day begins with an illustrated talk in the morning. After lunch you’ll be given a guided a tour round the different areas of the garden, which will reveal just how good they continue to look late into the season.
