Where to find garden antiques

In a little plug for our sister title Homes & Antiques, we recommend buying the February issue of the magazine to discover the best hunting grounds for garden antiques.

Homes & Antiques magazine helps dig up finds for your garden in a guide of the UK’s best antiques and vintage shops.

In a new directory of the UK’s 50 best antiques shops published in Homes & Antiques’ February issue, you’ll find dealers with stock that could transform your garden, including urns and benches, old ladders and vintage signs.

The UK-wide guide includes shops such as John Bird Antiques, Fontaine Decorative, Below Stairs of Hungerford and Petworth Antiques Market, all of which sell unusual finds ideal for adding texture and variation to your planting schemes.

A pair of 19th-century French shutters from Fontaine Decorative could be used to define sections of a garden while old wooden ladders from Below Stairs of Hungerford make an alternative climbing support for clematis.

This list was chosen by industry experts Nicky Haslam, Mark Hill, Sophie Conran, Wayne Hemingway and Katherine Higgins.

You'll find the feature along with an in-depth look at British country furniture and an inspiring look at a Cotswold Tudor farmhouse in the February issue of Homes & Antiques, on sale now.
