Listen to Adam on the Talking Gardens podcast
Adam talks to host Stephanie about growing up with two very different gardening grandmothers, the advice Terence Conran once gave him at Chelsea and how his world fell apart during Covid.

He also reveals why he believes it is possible to have a lovely garden as well as a dog. "A lot of people ask you about their dogs, this that and the other," he says. "All mine have been good apart from one slightly mad cocker spaniel that we've got which has been difficult but I think those things die half-trained."
But the secret to having a nice garden when you've got dogs? Adam says it's supervision. "Initially I'm always out there with them," he tells Stephanie. "I would say that's the one thing - that I never let the dogs out in the garden initially without me being with them and so they just got used to where to go and where not to go."

Buster, the latest addition to Adam's family who made his Gardeners' World debut last year, has been just the same. "As soon as he came home I was out in the garden working, he's this little sort of miniature Jack Russell but he's got an old soul, and he'll follow you around and I think what it is is that they just get used to your behaviour."
"Our lab's the same," he adds. "If I put her in a field she'll run like mad but in the garden, she'd good as gold. She'll potter around; as long as they're with me then they're alright, so I think that's been the key."
On the podcast, which was recorded live at Bord Bia Bloom in Ireland, Adam also hinted that he might be looking to move house again. This move has now happened, with his new garden debuting on the first episode of the new series of Gardeners' World.
