Exclusive GI reader event at Mounton House

Experience the magical Edwardian garden in South Wales recently restored by Arne Maynard on an exclusive Gardens Illustrated reader event.

Gardens Illustrated has arranged this exciting opportunity for readers to visit the private garden of Mounton House in Monmouthshire, an Edwardian garden jewel. It has been brought back to life in the past decade by its dedicated owners with designer Arne Maynard and its talented garden team, led by Tim Stretton.

Discover spaces including the Rock Garden, Pergola Garden, Southern Terrace and Tea House Garden, as well as the herbaceous borders and views over the Severn Estuary. The event will begin with a talk on the history of the garden and its creator, Henry Avray Tipping – a contemporary and colleague of Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens – with garden historian and Tipping biographer Helena Gerrish.

A guided tour of the garden will be followed by refreshments in the Courtyard, where guests can delight in the glasshouse, working potting shed and the cart shed with its tree growing through the roof. This garden is rarely open to visitors and then to only a few groups a year, and places are limited, so book now.
