Walking: it’s how we get from A to B but it also serves as a hobby for many. Plenty of us enjoy putting one foot in front of the other – whether that’s taking a stroll around your local park or tackling a new peak.
The physical benefits of walking are undeniable. It’s a low-impact form of exercise that can build stamina and support heart health. Walking also encourages us to spend more time outside, often in nature, contributing to improved mood and wellbeing.
Seasoned hiker or not, why not harness the power of walking, with all of its health benefits, and make a positive impact? Macmillan Mighty Hikes offer the chance for people of all abilities to celebrate walking while raising money for charity.
What is a Macmillan Mighty Hike?

Every year, thousands of people gather across the UK at one of 12 beautiful locations to walk a half or full marathon. Taking part is an opportunity to raise money to help Macmillan provide vital support for the 3.5 million people in the UK living with cancer.

Hear from last year’s hikers:
‘Oh my days. I have to say, this event is so emotional but the organisation is second to none and you can enjoy the walk, the scenery and the company. Thank you to the most incredible organisers.’ – Sue, Northumberland Coast, 2025
‘I was a solo first timer to this challenge and “nervous” wasn't even close to the truth. Once I realised this was a gorgeous community, including fellow Jurassic adventurers, with an amazing events team and volunteers, my nerves changed. Such gorgeous people with all their cancer stories and reasons to do this challenge. I love being part of the Macmillan family.’ – Cheryl, Jurassic Coast, 2025
