A new initiative from The Barcham Tree Foundation is offering schools, community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations the chance to build greener, healthier and more sustainable spaces.
The scheme is the first of an ongoing annual initiative by Barcham Trees, supporting local tree-planting projects to benefit the environment and surrounding community.
What's involved
Through the grant, the foundation will support up to 10 projects across mainland England, Scotland and Wales. Each successful group will receive up to 50 trees, between 20L and 65L in size, supplied by the Barcham tree nursery.
As well as supplying the trees for the community projects, Barcham Trees will also work with the successful applicants to make sure each one has the best trees for the site. Groups will get the benefit of Barcham Trees' expert advice and support as they plan and plant up the site.
Eligible projects
The Barcham Tree Foundation Grant is open to all sorts of projects, including creating community orchards, enhancing school environments and improving local green spaces.
However, projects must have a clear positive impact on the environment and local community, and be sustainable in the long term. Groups must be able to receive the free trees onsite when they are delivered, and organise the planting themselves, with support from Barcham Trees.
Plus, groups must have the permission of the landowner to complete the project and be willing to share their journey in case studies, photos and social media updates.
When to apply
Applications are open now and will close on the 30th September, with successful projects announced on the 19th October. Then, tree deliveries and planting will happen before the 30th April 2027.
