Winner of the RHS Chelsea Sustainable Garden Product of the Year 2024 has been announced.
The competition, which is open exclusively to tradestand exhibitors at Chelsea Flower Show, celebrates the horticultural industry's efforts to promote eco-friendly and ethical consumerism.

This year's winner of the coveted prize has been announced as POTR Pot, flat packed, self-watering origami planters made from waste. With a unique origami design, the flat-packed pot was created with environmental footprint in mind. POTR conducted a life cycle analysis of a traditional plant pot, to discover the carbon hotspots. Using this information, the team created the POTR pot.
The final round was judged by Professor Chris Harrop, Deborah Meaden and Andree Davies.
Last year's winner was Lindum Turf - Lindum Wildflower Turf. A turf that has a balance of 27 species of wildflowers, herbs and flowering perennials grown into a moisture retentive, 100 per cent plastic free and biodegradable matting to provide an instant wildflower area. A different turf from Lindum appeared on the shortlist this year.
The criteria for the finalists focuses on environmental sustainability, innovation, functionality and quality as well as ergonomics and safety.

twool sustainable garden net is the first netting of its kind made from underused renewable British wool as an alternative to plastic net. It is versatile, durable, and biodegradable. Nets are developed using twool naked yarn, a blend of Whiteface Dartmoor wool and Zwartbles natural-coloured wool. Blended, they give a beautiful granite look and are incredibly strong.
Plantable Calendar
An eco-friendly calendar.

This plantable calendar uses biodegradable eco-paper made with post-consumer and post-industrial paper waste that is embedded with seeds. When the paper is planted, the seeds grow and the paper naturally breaks down in the soil, resulting in no waste. All that is left behind are flowers, herbs or vegetables.

POTR has embraced a holistic approach to sustainable design, resulting in a unique product which places environmental impact at the core of the product design. POTR conducted a life cycle analysis of a traditional plant pot to uncover the carbon hotspots associated with the entire product lifecycle. Inspired by what they discovered, the team turned to a unique origami design, developing their distinctive flat-packed-pot.
Sneeboer Handspade

The Sneeboer Handspade is the first tool in the Sneeboer collection, which goes back 111 years, that has been produced on a fully sustainable basis. The design of the handspade is based on feedback from gardeners who needed a tool for their garden with all the function and strength of a spade, without it being so heavy and cumbersome.
