Forest Garden is offering one Gardens Illustrated reader two products from its brand new ‘grow your own’ range, developed as a direct response to the surge in fruit and veg growing this year. The first product, the new 1m Kitchen Planter, is the perfect depth for growing herbs and salads. Basil, chives, mint and tarragon, to name few, thrive in shallow soils, as do lettuce, radishes, pak-choi and celery. Kitchen gardeners could even use this trough for broccoli or spinach and fruit-lovers will find it perfect for strawberries. The planter is 29cm deep and takes 130l of compost.

And now for something a bit different: the second product is an ingenious Grow Bag Tray Container raised on legs to make it more accessible. Unsightly grow bags can be hidden (and there’ll be no more staining on your patio) plus, every member of your family will be able to tend their tomatoes. No more stooping! The grow bag tray container is 1m long and 40cm wide and contains a crossbar for securing support canes.

Each planter mentioned arrives with instructions for self assembly and is made from timber that’s been pressure treated against rot. Each product costs £74.99 and both can be purchased from forestgarden.co.uk.
