Listen to Talking Gardens podcast with Piet Oudolf

The Talking Gardens Podcast features conversations with the great and the good of the gardening world and with green-fingered celebrities about their dream gardens with Gardens Illustrated's editor Stephanie Mahon.

Guests choose the places, people and plants that have shaped their love of gardens and pick the things they would most like to have in their fantasy spaces.

Talking Gardens season two

In season two of Talking Gardens, Stephanie talks to cook, food writer and passionate home gardener Nigel Slater about what he would include in his dream garden, from the inspirational spaces of Japan to the stars in the sky, and from soft green moss to bright bronze azaleas.

We also hear from world-renowned garden designer Piet Oudolf about the projects that have shaped his career, how he believes fantasy spaces are impossible to achieve and about why he enjoys creating gardens in the public realm more than private spaces.

Gardener and garden writer Tamsin Westhorpe also constructs her dream garden from places she has known and loved, such as Vann garden in Surrey where she used to play as a child, and the landscape of the books and TV show The Durrells in Corfu.

Tune in to hear why designer Marian Boswall would love a pair of wolves in her dream garden; why head gardener Errol Reuben Fernandes would have to have a swimming pond with a jetty; and why gardener and writer Arthur Parkinson's garden would contain an aviary filled with flamingos.

Garden designer Isabel Bannerman also constructs her fantasy space, to include a time travel portal to visit Giverny while Monet was alive; and designer and broadcaster Arit Anderson tells us how she would love to share her dream garden with the late gardener and nurserywoman Beth Chatto.

The first episode of Talking Gardens season two, with Nigel Slater, will be available on Tuesday 17 October, with new episodes dropping every Tuesday throughout autumn.
