The Hepworth Wakefield has rapidly established itself as one of the key cultural destinations in the north of England. The gallery has been enhanced by newly created gardens created by renowned designer Tom Stuart-Smith and gardened by Katy Merrington.
This unique space is free to all visitors and open 24-hours a day, year round. But this is no ordinary public garden. Here is a rich and varied, contemporary space of the utmost flower-filled creativity that both delights and inspires.
Katy will deliver a Gardens Illustrated masterclass on how she and her team bring this intimate garden to life with year-round interest, giving you the insight into creating your own year-round flower garden.

Katy has worked in some of the best gardens in the UK and USA including Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh at Logan, Dumfries & Galloway, Tresco Abbey Garden, Isles of Scilly and Longwood Gardens: Pennsylvania, USA. At The Hepworth Wakefield Katy has nurtured the garden from the construction phase onwards, working closely with Tom Stuart-Smith to build a flourishing oasis rich in successional colour and character.
